Importance of lesson planning

Why is lesson planning important?

This topic is very interesting to me and during all classes with Dr. Berry, readings and activities. I have been able to learn about lesson planning and also to know about the importance of this in the teaching process and the life of teachers in the classroom.

It is fundamental to know that teachers need to have a lesson planning in their classes to organize their ideas, topics and goals. It is undoubtedly, teaching requires a lot of effort and dedication. For that reason, lesson planning has an important and a fundamental role in teacher´s classes because with the help of lesson planning teachers can plan their classes correctly and define everything they will do with their students.

On the one hand, all teachers must create a lesson planning because their students need to know the class how will be and also what activities they have to do. When teachers have a lesson planning, their activities are clearer and students can develop each activity planned for the class. Besides that, lesson planning is a way to have an order because this specifies step by step each activity and goal to be achieved. But, lesson planning is not only to plan activities, but also to plan the time. In every class, teachers need to have planned the time because students need to take into account each thing to do and also the time that they have to do it. It is important that teachers always know the needs of their students and create activities with the objective of generating a good understanding and progress in their classes.

On the other hand, I consider as a future teacher that lesson planning is a fundamental tool of any teacher because the teacher needs to be clear every part of his class. In each class, the teacher should create a lesson planning because it is guide for him and his students, and thanks to this the teacher can develop his class correctly. Moreover, the teacher must keep in mind some things as goals of the class, the topics, the assessment because in each class teacher should assess the advance of his students in order to improve their learning process. There is also an essential and important thing to keep in mind, the teacher should always have a lesson planning because improvisation is not a good option. Improvising is very difficult and at the time there can be many ways to develop the class and the teacher does not know how to develop it. With a lesson planning, the teacher has clear each activity to do, what time students need to do the activities, how he will assess his students and what goals he will achieve with the class.

In conclusion, teaching requires always a lesson planning and teachers need to have knowledge and information about it. I consider that lesson planning is not a thing that can be created in a minute because the result may be not what I expected. On the contrary, lesson planning requires time and dedication because it is a plan for my classes and students in order to give correct knowledge, information, instructions and goals for the class. If the teacher has a lesson planning, his classes will be more effective and his students will learn more about the topics.

Thanks for reading.
