Support for UHS-III SD cards
To please photographers and producers, Apple has once again added an SD card slot that has not been in MacBook Pros since 2015. It did not mention that the reader is not supporting UHS-II cards, which offer read and write speeds of up to 624 MB/s. That was not the only disappointment; the SD card slot supports UHS-II cards, but only up to 250 MB/s of data transfer, not the 312 MB/s speeds they are theoretically capable of. This is not very pleasant, as it looks like Apple has started serving us old technology that it has in stock instead of the innovation we have been used to from this company.
Support for 120Hz 4K displays
After Apple removed the HDMI port on the MacBook Pro, it brought a much-used multimedia interface to its high-end laptop. Unfortunately, the returned HDMI port is not so cutting-edge — it is an HDMI 2.0 port instead of an HDMI 2.1 port. HDMI 2.1 technology would allow a 4K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The HDMI 2.0 port on the current MacBook Pro only supports a 4K display with a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz. According to Apple, the MacBook Pro supports up to two external displays with 6K resolution at 60 Hz. In comparison, the MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip supports up to three external displays with 6K resolution and one external display with up to 4K resolution.
