So Who Gives A Shit?

Do you ever wonder what the whole point of life is? Why we were all brought here to this sometimes cruel and inhumane world. Have you ever done an introspection on why you are here and what you have to accomplish before you leave? Oh wait, I don’t mean to put you in a mood; you’re doing just fine.

It turns out people aren't so concerned about the aesthetics as much as the nitty-gritty (oftentimes hidden in fineprint) when it comes to making decisions that affect their lives long-term.

Man or woman, we all want the same thing bottom line: to lead a good peaceful life with adequate finances and laws that are fine-tuned to not bother us so much. How we go about making our views known however is where the problem lies. This has always been the underlying cause of uneding wars in the society.

Whether we like it or not, there’s always someone who shares an opposing view. There’s someone whose life-long aim is to show you how trash your views are and why you should switch over to the other side. It’s a sport for them. You can’t beat them, so the only sensible way out is to join them. You have to be converted. But here’s the scary part, there are way too many teams.

In the thread, I placed 2 extremely opposing views side by side and asked tweeps to identify with one team at a time. With no option of a middle ground to provide a safe blanket. This was in a bid to allow for deep introspection and the response were lit af, hence this article lol.

Liberal or conservative, pro-choice or pro-life, pro-gun or anti-gun, socialism or capitalism, feminism or not, death penalty or no death penalty, strict or freewill, climate change believers or skeptics. These are key labels to help shape our views and how we approach different talking points. What this should never change however is how we treat other humans.

More importantly, I noticed that as millennials, we get too passionate with things we've put hours of research into. We tend to amplify things by always anaysing from our POV and not willing to accept the fact that maybe everyone could be right. The labels do more societal damage than it do good.

Take for instance the men on my TL who believe feminism is an unnecessary movement and women should stop whining; they ended up picking the accomplished woman who wants to be heard and seek a partnership as opposed to getting trampled upon like her peers all over the world.
At the end of the day, whatever you believe is right or wrong shouldn’t define who you truly are and how much love and hope you put out into the world.

Sad part is, we’ve all signed up for these conversations, these differences. It is what makes us coexist. The far right, the far left, the fence sitters; it’s high time we started approaching situations as a human being first rather than identifying with a team just to fight off other teams.

So who gives a shit if he’s gay or if she believes there are 120 different genders or if they believe the earth is flat or don’t want free Medicare for all or don’t believe in God? Do they have good intentions? That’s all that matters.

This is not a piece to say what you believe in is right or wrong, it's just to say let's keep an open mind and love EVERYONE regardless as hate has never yielded a positive outcome in the long history of the world.
