When I first heard the word ‘uns’ dripping out of your mouth, I knew!

I knew when we first met that you were someone important to me,

In this vast expanse of colliding stars and galaxies, souls recognize.

But then came raindrops and the watercolor rainbow we once made faded.

Sometimes I fall asleep still feeling a trace of your long fingers on my back.

The hit of our first joint still lingers in my breath, like words induced in music.

Stealing glances with hands tied quoting Faiz on the steps of Lodhi Garden,

If Faiz was still a ghost lingering and haunting couples with his couplets,

Would we be lucky enough to encounter his presence and miss his absence?

I guess we will never know, ab humara uns hi roohsa hogaya hai…
