What you say is probably not what I hear and what I say is probably not what you hear.

Our answers to these questions might be quite different. As Marty Rubin said, “When the meaning is unclear there is no meaning.”

If we don’t take a moment to clarify and get aligned on meaning, we’re at high risk of unknowingly stepping into the traps of miscommunication and misunderstanding, which can sabotage projects and relationships.

If we don’t have a shared understanding of the purpose, priorities, process, and goals, how can we be aligned on what success and progress looks like?
