The Truth

Shall we start collaborating with the universe? Or co-create? Because the reality that we live in seems a bit different than the reality we understand. You know how we thought it was the sperm that…

Ingredients for making Potato Podimas

Potato Podimas is a typical South Indian dish that goes well with plain rice. You can use these podimas as stuff for samosas and aloo bread sandwiches as well. You can prepare this for your kids’ lunch boxes since potatoes are children’s all-time favourite food. Usually, I make these aloo podimas for our lunch since am fond of potatoes.

Since fried potatoes have some negative effects on our body, we can go with this recipe as we are boiling the aloos here. Moreover, it is a light spice food with minimal ingredients. Whenever you feel lazy to cook, you can prefer this recipe. It is a quick time recipe that you can prepare within 20 mins. Also, you can simply have it as your snack as well. So you can give a try to this recipe and relish it with your family and friends.

As a first step pressure cook the potatoes in the pressure cooker. Put potatoes into the cooker and pour enough water into them. Add a pinch of salt and cook them for 4 whistles.

Once the pressure is released, peel the potatoes skin. Chop them into cubes and set them aside.

Heat oil in the pan and add mustard seeds. Once it crackled, add curry leaves to it.

Next, add urad dal into the pan. Saute them on low flame so that urad dal does not get burnt. This is an optional step. You will get some nice crunchiness while biting the fried urad dal.

Then add chopped onions and saute them on medium flame until the onions turn translucent. You can sprinkle some salt while sauteing them.

Next, add chopped green chillies and saute them until the raw smell of the chillies goes off. I have added 2 green chillies, but you can adjust according to your taste.

Then add turmeric powder and saute well until the raw smell of the turmeric powder goes off.

Then, add chopped potatoes to them. Mix them gently since the potatoes are cooked well. Make sure aloos are coated well with the onion and turmeric base. Check for the salt and add if needed.

Meanwhile, pulse the grated coconuts once or twice in the mixer jar and keep them aside.

Finally, add pulsed coconuts to the potatoes and mix them gently for a minute.

Potato Podimas is ready to serve hot.
